Joyce Elaine Albrecht was born December 20,1936 at home in Kingman, Kansas to Harvey & Helen Albrecht. Following her, Darrel, Lee, and Donna were born. Joyce said that “Mother had her hands full—of course we were such good kids—never fought or disagreed so it wasn't a problem.”
Joyce attended first grade at Pleasant Hill School. There were only 7 students and she was the only girl. The school was located 1/2 mile from her home place at Kingman. In her later elementary school years she attended Hoosier School. She was the oldest of 13 students.
She graduated from Kingman High School in 1954. Bethel College in North Newton was her choice for higher education. During freshman initiation, Junior (who had been admiring her from afar), asked her out on a date.
They hit it off immediately and the relationship blossomed. After just a couple of dates she told her roommate that she “was going to marry that guy someday”. They spent the rest of the year getting to know each other.
Junior and Joyce were married on May 30,1956 at the First Mennonite Church in Pretty Prairie. Her wedding color was light blue. Right after the ceremony, the lights went out due to a tornado east of Pretty Prairie. Joyce’s Uncle Fred went home and brought back several fishing lanterns for the reception. Before he returned, several people shined their car lights into the basement windows where the reception was being held. The candelabras were also brought to the basement for extra light. Joyce said that she thought it was romantic!
After living in her uncle’s basement for the first year of their married life, Junior and Joyce moved to Hesston, where they lived for the next 57 years. The first two years they lived on Main Street across the street from Hesston College. Alma Yost, the mother of Lyle Yost, founder of Hesston Corporation, was their landlady. Joyce worked for 13 men at Hesston Corporation as the only secretary in its beginning days.
In 1961, Joyce attended Sidney’s Beauty College in Hutchinson. Her mother and grandma took care of Kris (3) and Keith (1) while she was in school since Junior was working on his Master’s at the same time. She owned and operated Joyce’s Beauty Shop in their basement for close to fifty years.
Junior and Joyce dug a basement in 1958 at 420 N Weaver Street and covered the roof floor with tar paper. The only structure above the floor was the stairway. When they moved into the basement, Joyce’s kitchen counter was two cement blocks and a 1 x 12 board with a pipe sticking out of the wall for her faucet. After completing the house in 1963, they moved upstairs. She commented that “moving into a new house was a childhood dream.”
Their family grew from a young couple in love to a family of seven. Five children arrived starting with Krystal in ’57, Keith in ’59, Kenton in ’61, Kyle in ’64, and Kerry in ‘69. Joyce was a dedicated mom who loved to provide for her family. She and Junior grew a wonderful garden each year. The kids thoroughly “enjoyed” (ha-ha) pulling the weeds. They taught the children the fine art of freezing and canning vegetables.
Poppy seed rolls were one of the traditions she brought into the family. They grew poppy seed each year so the family could enjoy “dirt bread” at family gatherings. Many of the clothes the children wore were sewn with loving hands by “mom”. The Easter of ’75, Joyce made everyone’s outfit except her own.
Vacations were an important part of the Janzen’s summers. Places they visited were National Parks in California, Washington DC, New York City, Gettysburg, Black Hills, and Disneyland. Junior and Joyce were privileged to take three international trips. One of them entailed a nine week trip around the world with his brother, Leon and Juanita.
Another past time, Joyce and Junior enjoyed was their flower gardens. They kept a beautifully manicured yard which was the envy of many. Roses, pansies, and geraniums were her favorites.
Joyce truly loved her nine grandchildren and niece and nephew who she accepted as her own grandchildren.
Holidays with all the family at home were the highlight of the year for her. She used to tell Kris how much she loved having all her chicks under her wings at one time.
At age 56, Joyce suffered the first of four major heart attacks. She survived these as well as a bout of cancer that the Lord miraculousLy healed her from. Doctors have commented to the family that Joyce should not have lived as long as she did. The family has been blessed to have her here longer than they would have ever expected.
Joyce’s strong faith in Jesus Christ was obvious to all who knew her. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at a young age. Later in life Joyce reaffirmed her faith by being baptized again. The Janzen family was dedicated to the churches they attended. Joyce and Junior enjoyed 20 years of singing in the choir at Whitestone. Joyce has been a faithful member of Inter-Mennonite/Kingdom Life Ministries for more than 25 years. Being a prayer warrior was one of Joyce’s gifts. She spent many hours praying for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and friends. The family has been blessed to have a wonderful Godly example to follow.
Surviving are children, Bree-Ann (Tom) Dulaney, and Shay Jenkins; stepchildren Brian Toews, and Rachel Toews; two grandchildren, and two brothers Kit (Nancy) and Jeff (Patricia).
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held February 1, 2014 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, Centennial, CO with burial in First Mennonite Church (Columbarium), Denver, CO.

M. Catherine Jones

Mary Catherine Jones, 94, passed away on March 17, 2014 in North Port, Florida. Catherine was born on December 17, 1919 in Trail, Ohio to Albert and Lydia Kolb Horrisberger. She moved to Florida and Sarasota several years ago.
Catherine is survived by a son, Donald (Pamela) Jones of North Port, Florida; three daughters, Phyllis (Clint) Shantz of North Port, Florida, Janice (Elmer) Ebersole of Sarasota, Florida and Karen Jones of Flint, Michigan; three sisters, Marie (Paul) Troyer, Eunice Thompson and Lois Schlabaugh; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

David "Doc" Kauffman, 92, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Whitefish Care and Rehabilitation.
Doc was born to the late Anna and N.L. "Roy" Kauffman in Creston in January of 1922. He was the middle child of 15 children. He lived in Creston and attended a one-room schoolhouse through the eighth grade. He worked on the family farm, in the family sawmill and as a packer for the U.S. Forest Service until World War II. During the war he served his country as a "conscientious objector" in the Civilian Public Service (CPS) program taking care of the National Parks, working as a smokejumper fighting fires in Idaho and on a cattle boat taking livestock to Poland. Upon his return he ended up in Virginia where he obtained his GED and attended Eastern Mennonite College (Eastern Mennonite University) in studies for pre-med.
He met his future wife, Ruth, at school and they married in Akron, Pa. The newlyweds lived in Philadelphia where Doc completed his medical training at Hahnemann University Hospital in family practice. After a short, two-year surgical residency in Spokane, Doc and Ruth moved to Whitefish where he practiced family medicine for over 40 years. Doc was an original "country doctor" who made many house calls for patients.
A man of many talents, Doc also served for over 20 years as a lay minister for the Whitefish Christian Church. He performed marriages and funerals all over the Flathead Valley. He never kept count but was busy most weekends. Some of his most memorable ceremonies were performed at various locations in Glacier National Park and on horseback.
Among Doc's passions were horses and hunting. Anyone who knew Doc surely heard of the hunting trips with his pack string into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. This yearly sojourn spawned many tall and interesting stories about hunting and those who accompanied him. His hunting trophies were proudly displayed in his home. Doc was also an active member of the Back Country Horseman.
Music was something Doc enjoyed from a very young age with his family and in church. He sang with the local Barbershop Chorus and in the Flathead Community Choir for many years.
His zest for life, welcoming smile, love of family and his ever-present cowboy hat will be missed by all those who had the privilege of meeting him. He lived life to its fullest and considered anyone he met a friend.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents Anna and N.L. "Roy" Kauffman and 11 of his siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Kauffman of Whitefish; two sisters, Gladys Reimer of Whitewater, Kan., and Rosella Eby of Drake, Saskatchewan, Canada; one brother, Joe and Ruth Kauffman of Lebanon, Ore.; two sons, David Jr. and Anita of Whitefish, and Stephen of Yakima, Wash.; two daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Kauffman-Harmon and Stephen of Wasilla, Alaska, and Rebecca "Becky" Kauffman-Piotrowski and David of Durango, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Britta and Brice Kauffman of Yakima, Wash., and Justin, Travis, Darren and Ashley Kauffman of Whitefish.
A celebration of Doc's life will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at Whitefish Lutheran Church, 5150 River Lakes Parkway, in Whitefish. An informal reception will follow services.

GOSHEN - Hope Kauffman, 91, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Greencroft Health Care Center.
She was born July 14, 1923, in Davidsville, Pa., to the late John B. and Elsie (Mast) Kaufman.
On Aug. 21, 1943, in Middlebury, she married David J. Kauffman. He died June 3, 1998.
Surviving are her sons, Glen David (Mary Ann) Kauffman, Edward John (Gay) Kauffman and Kent Ray (Darla) Kauffman of Middlebury; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother John Jr. (Violet) Kaufman of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul James Kauffman, and brother Willis Kaufman.
She graduated from Middlebury High School in 1941. She enjoyed quilting, reading and baking.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday Nov. 23, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury. Family and friends may gather from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home to go in procession to a 10:30 a.m. graveside service in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Bonneyville Mennonite Church in Bristol.

GOSHEN - Joe Kauffman, 86, of Goshen, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, April 6, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Arthur, Ill., to Alfred J. and Clara (Miller) Kauffman.
On Oct. 5, 1956, in Middlebury, he married Lydia Mae Bontrager. She survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Gary (Jill) Kauffman of North Augusta, S.C., and Richard (Betsy) Kauffman and Dennis (Marsha) Kauffman, both of Goshen; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother David Kauffman of St. Ignatius, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Katie Plank; and six brothers, Menno, George, Steve, Jacob, Harvey and Ben Kauffman.
He was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Born in Caernarvon Twp., she was the daughter of the late Israel and Leah (Martin) Brendle. Her husband, Robert C. Kauffman, died in 1974.
Ruth was a homemaker and also worked as a retail sales clerk at Provident Bookstore for 24 years. She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church and a former member of Hampden Mennonite Church; she served at both churches as an adult Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed oil painting, flower gardening, and bird watching.
Surviving are four children, J. Robert "Bob," married to Maryetta (Miller) Kauffman of New Holland, Janet, married to Jim Stauffer of Lebanon, Glenn, married to June (King) Kauffman of Laurel, MD, and Joyce, married to Wilmer Martin of Reading; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; and two sisters, Louisa Lehman, and Marian Hostetler.
Preceding her in death are four sisters, Irma Hoober, Arlene Martin, Pauline Weaver, and Ethel Brendle; and a brother, Melvin Brendle.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA with the Reverends Larry Weber, Carl Sensenig, and Glenn Kauffman officiating. GOSHEN - Maynard J. Kauffman, 71, passed away at home Saturday evening, Jan. 4, 2014. He was diagnosed with ALS in September 2012.
He was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Goshen to Milo and Katie (Yoder) Kauffman.
He married Joyce K. Eichelberger on Jan. 6, 1962, in Emma.
She survives along with two daughters, Tina R. (Thomas) Duncan of Fort Wayne and Tonya D. Rutter of Goshen; three sons, Scott D. (Sally) Bourbon and Rick E. (Laura) and Adam B. Kauffman, both of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosetta (Joe) Koch of Spencerville; and a brother, Cheryle "Chuck" (Connie) Kauffman of Sarasota, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Anthony J. Kauffman.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Kauffman farmed and worked as a carpenter at Carriage for 13 years. He was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church and attended Burket United Methodist Church, while living in Warsaw.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, and from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, where a 10:30 a.m. Friday funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Terry Diener will officiate. Burial will follow in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the ALS Association, Indiana Chapter for Team Maynard.

Kauffman, Maynard J., 71, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died January 4, 2014 at the same place. He was born February 10, 1942 at Goshen, IN to Milo and Katie (Yoder) Kauffman. On January 6, 1962 at Emma, IN he was married to Joyce K. Eichelberger, who was born April 24, 1943 and survives.
Surviving are children, Tina R. (Thomas) Duncan, Tonya D. Rutter, Scott D (Sally), Rick E. (Laura), and Adam B. Kauffman; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosetta (Joe) Koch, and Cheryle "Chuck" (Connie) Kauffman.
A son, Anthony J. Kauffman preceded him in death.
Farmed and worked as a carpenter at Carriage for 13 years.

He was born December 1, 1916 at Creston, Flathead County, Montana to Norman Leroy and Anna Grace (Snyder) Kauffman. Norman was born January 10, 1886 and died January 9, 1967. Anna Grace was born February 28, 1888 and died October 9, 1975.
On May 31, 1943 at Bloomfield, Dawson County, Montana
he was married to Esther Borntrager, who was born February 13, 1920 and died February 12, 2006.
Surviving are children, Elaine, Daniel (Deborah), Kenneth (Frieda), Stephen (Ginger), Brenda (Steven) Younger, and Alice (Richard) Arneson, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and siblings, David (Ruth) Kauffman, Joe (Ruth) Kauffman, Rosella Eby, Gladys Reimer, and (Margaret Kauffman, sister-in-law).
Three daughters, Eileen, Arlene, and Rebecca, a grandson, Travis Herring,
and siblings, Reuben, Mabel Miller, Ruth Stutzman, Mary Slatter, Aldine, Berniece Reimer, Norman, Lillie Weber, Jim, and Sanford preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held March 28, 2014 at Mountain View Mennonite Church Kalispell Montana with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Kalispell, Montana.
Paul was born to Norman Leroy ("N. L." or "Roy") and Anna Grace (Snyder) Kauffman on Dec. 1, 1916, at the family farm near Creston, Montana. He was baptized upon his confession of faith at Mountain View Mennonite Church and was a lifelong and active member of that church.
As a child, he attended Creston and Cayuse Prairie schools, finishing eighth grade in 1930, whereupon he went to work full time in the family sawmill. As he grew up, cars and trucks became part of life in Montana; with his father and brothers, he did some of the very early over-the-road trucking, hauling logs, trees or canned goods to Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas.
On May 31, 1943, he married Esther Borntrager at Red Top Mennonite Church in Bloomfield, Mont; they worked and lived on her father's farm, and later moved to Glendive for a short time. In 1946, Paul and Esther moved back to the Creston area, where they lived in a house nestled up against the foothills for more than 60 years, raising seven children there.
The great outdoors was always a part of Paul's life. Work was mainly outdoors, with early years in the family sawmill, many more years driving a logging truck and operating a small farm throughout. He spent many hours fishing and hunting as well, both for food and for recreation, and was always happy to tell the stories engendered by those activities. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, and was known to choose a travel route by looking for roads he hadn't driven before.
Music was an early and lifelong passion. Paul was always part of the music of his church, from leading and participating in congregational singing, to organizing men's quartets and ensembles, to creating family presentations, to singing in various choral groups. He also sang in several community choral societies, and was a charter member of the Flathead Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus. He was one of the group who started the local Christian radio station, KALS, and made opportunity for his home to be filled with music as well, with many voices, a piano, radios and a stereo which were all used frequently.

ORRVILLE -- Ruth Elizabeth Kauffman, 92, formerly of West High Street, Orrville, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Orrville, after a short period of declining health.
Ruth was born July 24, 1921 in Orrville, to the late Oliver and Mary (Liechty) Blosser and married Paul L. Kauffman Dec. 27, 1944, at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville. Paul died Feb. 7, 2008.
She was a 1939 graduate of Orrville High School, and Goshen College in 1943, with a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science degrees in education. She was an elementary teacher for Orrville City Schools for many years, retiring in 1978 from North School.
She was a member of Smithville Mennonite Church and Crown Hill Homemakers Club. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, crocheting, quilting and making snacks and treats for her family.
Surviving are daughters, Deborah (John) Riegsecker of Gig Harbor, Wash., Kristen (Jim) Herring and Donita Gingrich, both of Orrville, Beth (Ben) Denton of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Sara Koontz of Solon; a son, Jan (Joanne) Kauffman of Dalton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Emma Hartzler.
Services will be Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at Smithville Mennonite Church, 6097 Akron Road, Smithville, with the Rev. Todd Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the services.

GOSHEN - V. Pauline (Yoder) Kauffman, 91, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 25, at Greencroft Gables.
She was born Nov. 27, 1922, to Rufus T. - founder of Yoder Popcorn - and Modella (Mishler) Yoder, in LaGrange County.
On Nov. 7 1943, she married Ralph A. Yoder. He passed away April 18, 1959.
She is survived by their three children, Janis (Jim) Erb of Roanoke, Va., Phyllis (Nelson) Gehman of Leola, Pa., and Myron (Sheila) Yoder of Middlebury; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
On Aug. 16, 1997, she married Francis LeRoy Kauffman. He passed away June 22, 2004.
She is survived by two stepchildren, Larry (Pat) Kauffman of Goshen, and Merlin Kauffman of Arizona; seven step-grandchildren; 10 great-step-grandchildren; and two great-great-step-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Larry R. (Jan) Yoder and a stepbrother, Frank Kauffman, both of Goshen; two brothers-in-law, Pete (Florence) Yoder of Middlebury and Merritt Yoder of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pauline was devoted to her family and her faith-family at Forks Mennonite Church. During her lifetime she served others in many ways: on the deaf ministries advisory committee of the former Mennonite Board of Missions from 1977-1996; Mennonite Voluntary Service with disabled children in Arizona; summer activities program for deaf children of the Indiana Michigan Mennonite Conference; Forks Mennonite Church historical committee; singing with small groups; volunteering at Greencroft; and supporting many overseas missionaries.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and for an hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, funeral service at Forks Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Burial will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Deaf Ministries of College Mennonite Church, Goshen.

GOSHEN - Melvin R. Kaufman, 88, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 27, at Greencroft Healthcare. He had been ill since November.
He was born Nov. 25, 1925, near Johnstown, Pa., to Calvin and Margaret (Shetler) Kaufman.
On April 9, 1950, he married Lois Marie Whitehead at Rock Run Church of the Brethren, Goshen.
She survives along with three children, Charles Kaufman of Tucson, Ariz., Gail (Kevin) Brumbaugh of Wakarusa and Donald (Kristine) Kaufman of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; five grandchildren, Chris (Stacey) Harris, David Harris, Allie (Daniel) Chatham, Bryn Kaufman and Colton Kaufman; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Coy, Thomas and Scot Harris and Luke Chatham; and four siblings, Lorene Saylor and Rhonda (Melvin) Blough, both of Hollsopple, Pa., Marvin (Ruth) Kaufman of Broadway, Va., and Gerald "Jerry" (Marlene) Kaufman of Akron, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Goshen resident since 1949, Mr. Kaufman graduated in 1943 from Connemaugh Township High School in Hollsopple. He did Civilian Public Service from 1943-1945 in Baltimore. He was an active member of North Goshen Mennonite Church, where he was involved in building projects and many other activities over the years.
A skilled carpenter and craftsman, Mel retired from Smoker-Craft in 1992. His hobby of woodworking brought him and the recipients of his handiwork a lot of pleasure. Travel was also an enjoyable part of his life, having traveled to 48 states and international destinations.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Mark Schloneger of North Goshen Mennonite Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the service, and burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Goshen Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee.

Annie was a member of the Pine Grove Mennonite Church in Granton.

Loretta N. Kilmer, 43, of California, MO passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, MO.
Loretta was born on July 28, 1970 in Bowmansville, PA the daughter of Paul Rissler Jr. and Marian Horst Rissler both who survive of California, MO.
Loretta was united in marriage on March 2, 1991 in High Point, MO to Wayne Kilmer who survives of the home.
Loretta was a member of Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church near Latham, MO. She was a homemaker and had a big heart and smile, she never met a stranger.
She is survived by one son, Jacob Kilmer of the home; one daughter, Maryann Kilmer also of the home; five brothers, John Ivan Rissler (Karen) of California, MO, Paul Harvey Rissler III (Michelle) of California, MO, David Lavon Rissler, (Deborah) of Linn, MO, Arlin Ray Rissler (Wendy) of California, MO and Delton Chad Rissler (Ashley) of Latham, MO.

He served with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Eureka, Ill. from 1971 to 1973, and received a degree in aviation from Hesston College. He later graduated from Goshen College with a bachelor of science in nursing. Glen worked as a dialysis nurse in the Akron area for 16 years and worked as a traveling nurse for the last 2 years. He also previously worked part time for Priority Air Charter in Kidron as a pilot for 10 years.
Glen was a member of Orrville Mennonite Church, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the American Nurses Association. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, riding his recumbent bike and he loved flying and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ongoing goal of bringing a laugh or smile to the dialysis patients he served.

King, Glen E., age 61, of Dalton, OH died February 1, 2014, at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born on August 10, 1952, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Eldon and Dorothy (Miller) King and married Judy Culp on August 14, 1982, at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, OH. He served with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Eureka, IL from 1971 to 1973. Glen was a member of Orrville Mennonite Church, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the American Nurses Association.

King, Lois I., 94, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at the Haven.
She was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Belleville, a daughter of the late Frank and Sadie (Stoltzfus) Zook. Her husband, Mark S. King, whom she married on May 28, 1944, preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1980.
She is survived by: her children, Larry M. King and wife, Betty L., of Camp Hill, and Karen S. Zook and husband, Robert E., of Belleville; and three sisters-in-law, Janet Zook, of Belleville, Savilla King, of Belleville, and Orpha King, of Denver, Pennsylvania.
She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Loren F. King, Floyd King and Paul King, and a sister, Pauline Peachey.
Lois graduated from Belleville High School in 1938. She attended Goshen College. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Belleville Flour Mills, Belleville Oil Company and Valley View Retirement Community.
She was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday school class and a member of the ladies sewing circle. Lois enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, crocheting and reading. She was a faithful Bible reader.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastors Alan Kauffman and Herb Zook officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the church.

MIDDLEBURY - Wilma W. King, 71, died at 4:12 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born Aug. 15, 1942, in LaGrange, to the late William and Ida (Kauffman) Mast.
On Oct. 28, 1968, in LaGrange County, she married Melvin B. King. He died July 15, 1995.
Surviving are her children, Dora Ann (Verlin) Schrock, Frieda (Nelson) Mullet and Marlin (Carla), Larry (Carolyn) and Ivan (Amy) King, all of Middlebury, Maynard (Janice) King of Goshen, Gerald (RoseMary) King of Topeka and LaMar (Linda) King of Shipshewana; 26 grandchildren; siblings Barbara (Perry) Miller and Ora (Barbara) Mast, both of Middlebury; and brother-in-law Clarence (Mary) Gingerich of Shipshewana.
Her sister, Frieda Gingerich, and six grandchildren predeceased her.
She was a homemaker and a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, and all day Sunday, June 8, at Marlin King's home, 60301 E. County Line Road. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, at Marlin King's home. Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery.

Klaassen, Lillian Epp, 74 died July 12, 2014, She was born April 15, 1940 to Diedrich and Katherine Epp. She was baptized upon confession of her faith by Reverend G.G. Epp in July of 1957 and became a member of the Eigenheim Mennonite Church at that time, a membership she held until she died. On December 13, 1958 she married Benno Klaassen.
Surived by son Ken (Marla), grandchildren Michael and Kaylynn, great-grandchildren Ethan, Colton, Hannah and Katherine, son Allen, sisters Elinor and Elsie, brothers Richard (Margaret), John, Ed (Ruth), brother-in-law Herman Klassen, sisters-in-law Magdalene, Louise, Helen Epp and Helen Klassen, many nieces and nephews and friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
Mom was predeceased by husband Benno (1996),daughter Karen, daughter Carolyn (1959) brother George (1928), brother Menno (1938), sister Lena (1939), a brother in 1942, her mother Katherine Epp and a sister in 1946, father-in-law Martin Klaassen (1965), mother-in-law Lisette (Jantzen) Klaassen (1982), father Diedrich Epp (1993), brother Clarence (2001), brother-in-law Edgar Klassen (2003), sister Velma (2007), sister-in-law Pauline (2009), brothers Art and Alvin (2011), sister-in-law Bonnie (2012), and brother-in-law Reg (2014).

LaVerna was born in Steinbach to Peter D. and Maria (Friesen) Reimer on April 22, 1934. She completed her graduation from Grade XII with her first year class, even though she missed a year of school due to polio. Her dad owned a small bargain store on Main St. Her childhood years growing up in Steinbach, in a large, hospitable and energetic home were very happy ones.
She taught at Glenella, Manitoba and Elmdale Elementary in Steinbach. She married Lawrence Klippenstein of Altona in 1956 and together they served with Mennonite Pioneer Mission in a Metis community at Matheson Island for two years. Then came six years in college residence at Goshen College where she completed her B.A. studies. She and Lawrence returned to Winnipeg where dad taught at Canadian Mennonite Bible College. Three children joined the family during this time, Norman, Noreen and Nathan.
The family lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for four years while dad attended graduate school. Here Mom undertook courses in special education and taught at the Kenny Institute for physically disabled high school students, work she found very fulfilling. Their fourth child Nevin (Jerry) was born at this time.
The family then lived for a few years in Gretna, and Altona, followed by 32 years in Winnipeg. During this time mom was heavily involved in leading Christian education workshops, substitute teaching, Sunday school teaching, and working as a columnist/journalist for Mennonite periodicals like Christian Living, Mennonite Reporter and several devotional readers and denominational Sunday school curriculum materials. She had a deep compassion for people who were lonely and in need of friendship, and lived to serve. Much of her time was spent with refugees, immigrants, and others in need of kind personal connection.
MCC service sabbaticals took her and Lawrence to London, UK, Bechterdissen, Germany and Moscow, Russia. They also enjoyed many trips to Cuba and other places.
Her life took a very difficult turn in 2004, when she suffered a devastating stroke. A series of falls and rehab attempts resulted in a downward spiral in health in general during the past year. The loss of her life-long love and skill with words often left her deeply discouraged. Dad devoted his time to bringing her much comfort and care, including numerous trips to lakeside resorts, and even once more to Cuba. Towards the end she indicated a wish to leave this earth because her journey was too hard. We thank God for His grace, for sending many "angels" in family and friends, and much inward fortitude to make it nearly to her eightieth year.

GOSHEN - LeRoy "Topper" Knepp, 63, of Goshen, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 4:45 a.m. Monday, June 2, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 19, 1950, in Washington, Ind., to Noah and Rachel (Gingerich) Knepp.
On May 25, 1974, he married Marilyn Miller at Bethel Conservative Church in Nappanee.
Mr. Knepp grew up in Davies County. He has lived in this area the last 22 years.
He was the former owner of Knepp & Son Construction Co. from 1992-2010. He then went to work as a salesman for Master Steel Roofing. He was a member and deacon at Siloam Fellowship in Goshen.
The number one thing is his life was his family and grandchildren. LeRoy was a friendly, kindhearted and helping man to the many people he came in contact with. He also enjoyed golfing and mushroom hunting.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carli Noel Knepp.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Siloam Fellowship in Goshen. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, funeral services at Nappanee Missionary Church. Burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.

Dr. Mark Allan Kniss, 87, a resident of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Center, passed away June 6, 2014 at Oak Lea Nursing Home.
Dr. Kniss was born February 26, 1927 in Dhamtari, India and was the son of the late Lloy A. Kniss and Elizabeth Luther Kniss. Dr. Kniss graduated from Wittenberg College (Ohio) in 1951 and Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa in 1956. He served residencies in Harrisburg General Hospital in Harrisburg, PA and Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. After his medical training, he served in India under the Mennonite Board of Missions, Elkhart, IN. In 1960, Dr. Kniss started a clinic that expanded into a full outpatient department and grew to be a 60 bed hospital by the time he left India in 1973. Dr. Kniss opened a family practice, Park View Medical Center in Park View in 1974, where he saw patients until 1998. After his retirement, he made 5 trips back to India to assist at the hospital. His 2011 trip was for the 50th Anniversary of the Nav Jivan Hospital.
Dr. Kniss was superintendent of the Avante Nursing Home in Harrisonburg. He was a member of the Rockingham Male Chorus and was an avid hunter, enjoyed bicycling and gardening. Dr. Kniss was an active member of the Ridgeway Mennonite Church where he served many roles.
On July 6, 1952, he married Betty Martin Kniss who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Lois K. (Dale) Jones, Richmond; James M. Kniss, Mt. Joy, PA; Robert E. (Brenda) Kniss and Eric A. (Brenda) Kniss all of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Paul G. (Naomi) Kniss, Harrisonburg; David L. (Esther) Kniss, Sarasota, Florida; one sister, Esther K. (Myron) Augsburger, Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, Kevin D. Jones, Kristen M. Jones, Andrew R. Kniss, Jennifer M. Kniss and James Paul Kniss.
Pastor Ben Risser and Dr. Myron Augsburger will conduct a memorial service Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 3p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church, 1600 College Avenue, Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6p.m. until 8p.m. at Ridgeway Mennonite Church, 546 East Franklin Street, Harrisonburg.
At his request, his body was donated to the Virginia Anatomical Board.

GOSHEN - Martha H. Koch, 92, entered the presence of the Lord on Monday, Aug. 25, at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen.
She was born Oct. 5, 1921, in St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada, to Menno and Lovina (Bauman) Horst.
On Aug. 8, 1942, in St. Jacobs, she married Roy S. Koch. He died June 12, 2010.
Surviving are three daughters, Arlene (Ken) Holdeman of Bloomington, Minn., Jane (Stan) Oyer of Middlebury and Sheila (Millard) Graber of Goshen; three sons, Robert (Linda) Koch of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard (Rhonda) Koch of St. Joseph, Mich., and Rodney Koch of Beaverton, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;three sisters, Mary Shantz of Cambridge, Ontario, and Barbara Horst and Emma Brubacher, both of St. Jacobs; and a brother, Mel (Leeta) Horst, of St. Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joyce Graber; three brothers, David, Elam and Amon Horst; and two sisters, Lena Frey and Verna Waters.
She was the loving foundation for her husband and family. Caring for them brought her much joy in life. She befriended and ministered to many, opening her home to students and others who needed a place to live.
She shared her husband's church ministry and was a sought-after public speaker. They ministered in St. Jacobs for 21 years, in West Liberty, Ohio, for 13 years and came to Goshen in 1970, where she was a member of East Goshen Mennonite Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in how she lived her life.
Her jobs included secretarial work, childcare, food service at Goshen College and retail work at Provident Bookstore. She volunteered at the Goshen Hospital for 26 years.
Visitation will be at East Goshen Mennonite Church from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, funeral service. Pastor Steve Slagel will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery in Goshen.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family.

He was united in marriage to Norma Burkholder on Oct. 28, 1958, who survives. He is also survived by three sons and their wives, Glenn and Laura of Singers Glen, Nelson and Shirley of Fulks Run and Bernard and Melinda of Dayton; a sister, Rosella Martin of Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren, Jared Koogler and wife, Stephanie, David Koogler, Susanna Wieler and husband, George, Anthony Koogler, Keith Koogler, Jordana Koogler and Scott Koogler; a great-grandchild, George Ervin Wieler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Witmer.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken back to his home Wednesday afternoon, where friends may call Thursday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. McMullen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GOSHEN - Martha Elizabeth Hiestand Krabill, 95, of Goshen, passed into the loving arms of her maker Sunday, Nov. 23, in her home after a brief illness.
Martha was born Oct. 18, 1919, to the late Anna (Hoffman) Shank and Christian J. Hiestand near Bainbridge in Lancaster County, Pa.
She attended a one-room elementary school at Wickersham, Pa., graduating in 1936 from Bainbridge, the local three-year high school, and in 1937 from Eastern Mennonite High in Harrisonburg, Va.
From 1937 to 1944, Martha taught private piano to over 100 students at a time, driving a 30-mile radius to their homes for lessons. Annual recitals for her students were in the East Donegal Township High School Auditorium. For three years following 1944 she studied piano and music theory at Goshen College. One summer she served as a volunteer at the White Earth Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota.
On Aug. 30, 1947, she married the Rev. Russell Roth Krabill, a native of Wayland, Iowa, at Marietta Mennonite Church in Marietta, Pa., by Bishop Noah Risser, assisted by her brother, the Rev. John S. Hiestand. Martha and Russell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in August 1997.
Martha was a loyal supporter and ministry partner with her husband, who pastored four Elkhart County Mennonite churches over a 50-year period: Locust Grove, North Goshen, Prairie Street and Holdeman. She shared her gifts of hospitality with the many members of her church and extended family networks. Martha continued to teach private piano in her home until her early 80s, having taught students from ages four to 83. She was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann (Dennis) Hollinger of Beverly, Ma.; a son, James Russell (Jeanette) Krabill of Elkhart; five grandchildren, Matthew (Toni) Krabill of Pasadena, Calif., Elisabeth (Rafael) Krabill Barahona of Goshen, Mary Laura Krabill of Pasadena, Daphne (Ryan) Hollinger Fowler of Atlanta and Naphtali (Nathan) Hollinger Mitten of Charlotte, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miriam (Benjamin) Kraybill of Palmyra, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Krabill, and her brothers, John S. Hiestand, Paul S. Hiestand and Christian J. Hiestand.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart, with additional viewing for an hour prior. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.

On September 12, 1953 at Lancaster, PA she was married to John Eby Kreider, who was born August 28, 1929 and survives. They were married 60 years in September 2013.
Surviving are children, Connie married to Roy Bender; Barry married to Erica Landes; John married to Carolyn Eberly; Philip married to Lauren Reider; Jennifer married to Dean Peifer; and Kirby married to Cassie Hofstetter; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Roy & Ruth Book, Helen Rutt, Marian & John Groff, Rhoda & Ora Mast, Miriam Book & Jim Lapp.
Two grandsons, Ryan Scott Bender - June 1990 and Evan Kreider - April 2003 preceded her in death.
Betty sewed hundreds of comforters for Mennonite Central Committee.

PALMYRA Elvin Leaman Kreider, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Thelma (Hershey) Kreider.
He was born Friday, June 22, 1934, in Strasburg, to the late Allen and Anna (Leaman) Kreider. Elvin loved the farm. When he wasn't farming, he was talking about farming. After he retired he enjoyed driving around and watching other farmers work. He loved God and the church, serving Stauffer's Mennonite Church in a variety of ways, including youth ministry leader, trustee, and treasurer. His generous spirit was also evidenced by his service with Mennonite Disaster Service and other charities. After his retirement from farming he served the Amish community. He loved his family. His children honor his legacy of faith, hard work, and commitment, in his care for their mother as she suffered the effects of Alzheimer's Disease.
He is survived by a son, Glenn Kreider and wife, Janice of Cedar Hill, Texas; two daughters, Joan Buckwalter and husband, Leon of Harrisburg, and Linda Metzler and husband, Ray of Greeley, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jeneec Martinez and husband, Johnny, S. Michael Kreider, Joshua Buckwalter, Shayla Buckwalter, Nathan Metzler, and Karina Metzler; one great-grandson, Dallas Buckwalter; and four brothers, Allen Kreider and wife, Flora, Paul Kreider and wife, Helen, Earl Kreider and wife, Marian, and John Kreider and wife, Kim. He was predeceased by a brother, Tobias Kreider, and a sister, Gloria Shelly.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, at 11 a.m. at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon 17042 with Pastor John Hunt and Dr. Glenn Kreider officiating. She was born in Ephrata to the late Mahlon and Fannie (Stauffer) Good and was the wife of the late Melvin Kreider.
Susie was a member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church where she was a member of the sewing circle. She worked in the kitchen at Yoder's and the Brownstown Restaurant, where she enjoyed cooking and baking. Susie was well known for her lemon sponge and peanut butter pies.
She is survived by a son, Clarence E., husband of Darlene (Seibel) Kreider of Myerstown; 3 daughters, Linda J., wife of Ray R. Groff of Ephrata, Fannie L., wife of Michael Rollman of Ephrata, Becky S., wife of Ammon Weaver of Denver; 20 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen M. Kreider; a great grandson, Sheldon Martin; 5 brothers, Harry, Warren, Norman, Charles and Mahlon Good; 5 sisters, Anna Martin, Mary Sensenig, Edna Zollers, Eva Good and Margaret Good.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Highway, Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the church, followed by her funeral service at 10 a.m., with Pastor Glenn Sauder officiating. Interment will take place in the Hinkletown Mennonite Cemetery.
